Each quarter you will pick a book from the list provided on readingoutsidethecoop.weebly.com.
Once you have finished reading the book, you will write a letter to the teacher who recommended it in which you:
(1) explain to that person why you chose the book they recommended,
(2) describe what you found interesting or enlightening about the book,
(3) ask any questions -- these should be questions of interpretation, not plot -- you have about the book itself and/or why he/she chose to recommend it, and
(4) earnestly thank the teacher for his/her recommendation.
A copy of your letter should be submitted to your Creative Writing teacher before you give it to the person who recommended your book. Specific grading criteria for your letter can be found by clicking on the link "you will write a letter to the teacher" above.
If a Co-op staff member you like has not recommended two books for the site, you can nag him or her to send in his choices and explanations. If that teacher mentions your name when submitting his or her recommendations, you will get extra credit for your efforts.
